Our flight departured from Madrid with a delay of one hour, after a busy day of preparations and solving last minute issues at work. The flight was very quiet and we spend these 5 hours beginning this travelogue and trying to sleep a little bit.
Around 3:00 AM, we landed in the Queen Allia airport in Amman. Charl, the owner of the Marian Hotel, who we contacted by Internet, managed for us a taxi driver. He was waiting for us and after a brief inmigration process and money change, we were in a rickety van leaving the distressed airport to Madaba. We passed through a secondary road that in some areas is just a dirty road without sphalted surface and passed by empty villages, with a very different landscape than we are accustomed. For a moment, it was like the images of Bagdad that we watch almost everyday on TV.
After pay the 7 JD as agreeded to the taxi driver, we meet a quite asleep Charl and quickly assigned us a basic but clean room with two beds... For 18 JD ($25), we can't ask for more. Good enough in order to rest and be prepared for the very real first day in Middle East. We fell asleep around 4:30 AM ... a while after began the midnight pray call. We must to become accustomed to this.
